Company Background
Established in South Africa in May 2008 by Group CEO Andrew Love, who has over 30 years' experience in the industry, Strategic Transfer Solutions (STS) was established with the ethos of delivering personalised risk transfer services tailored to complex client needs.
Since then, STS has evolved into a leading player in the insurance and reinsurance broking industry and specialises in servicing and placing large, complex risks across Africa and globally.
Since its inception, STS has experienced remarkable growth, expanding its operations beyond South Africa to encompass the African Continent, Indian Ocean Islands, United Kingdom and Asia. This initial growth trajectory led to the establishment of the Group's second trading company in Mauritius in August 2014. This was done to service the needs of our customers' expansion across the African continent, as well as to provide reinsurance services in the region.
STS's expansion continued with the addition of new strategic shareholders to assist with driving growth and expanding global operations. Over and above a large financial institution partner, Douglas Milne also joined the Group in 2022. With a background in insurance broking dating back to 1977, Douglas brings his extensive expertise, having served as CEO for a leading global kidnap and ransom broker.
In 2023, STS further expanded into Namibia and the United Kingdom under the leadership of Alma Harmse and Paul Davidson. Alma, with over 32 years of experience in the short-term insurance industry, previously served as Managing Director of a prominent Namibian insurance brokerage. Paul, whose insurance career began in 1975, joins STS after being the CEO of a large, global insurance brokerage and financial solutions provider focusing on political, credit, terrorism, political violence risks and project finance consulting.
Asia
As part of our ongoing growth strategy, STS acquired a broking business in Hong Kong to focus on the Asian market. This move promises to open many new opportunities in this exciting region.
Mozambique
STS has laid the foundation for operations in Mozambique and is currently awaiting regulatory approval to commence trading. The team is excited to bring their expertise to this new market.
Leadership
To enhance the STS our leadership team and further drive expansion through Africa, Malcolm Padayachee will be joining the team. With over 20 years of broking and insurance experience, Malcolm's arrival will play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth trajectory.

Employee Benefits
The African Employee Benefits landscape has been on the radar for STS for a number of years as we believe our differentiated service model and challenge of the norm approach will be well received by customers. As with all our initiatives the key to our success is our team both in terms of their expertise in the sector as well as their passion for their clients. Mdu Nene joined us on 1 May and will be leading this new initiative. Mdu has over 15 years' experience travelling across the continent and structuring Employee Benefits solutions for various multinationals.
